(1 ) Usually Bilateral


 (2 ) Seen in young boys 20-30yrs age


 (3 ) Recurrent Vitreous hemorrhages


 (4 v) Idiopathic inflammation of peripheral retinal

Eale’s disease : (Perphlebitis Retinae)


1. Idiopathic inflammation of peripheral retinal veins (Not arteries ) !!!


2. Hypersensitivity of tuberculin protein or septic foci 


3. Four stages of pathogenesis :
ð Stage of inflammation 
ð Stage of ischemia 
ð Stage of retinal neovascularisation 
ð Stage of sequelae 


4. Clinical feature :
ð B/L 
ð Young patients (20-30 yrs) 
ð Males 
ð Recurrent vitreous hemorrhage 


ð Sudden floaters (Black spots)
ð Peripheral veins tortuous and thickened 
ð Retinal hemorrhage 
ð Vitreous hemorrhage 


5. Treatment : 
ð Oral corticosteroid (Controls inflammation)
ð Lazer photocoagulation (For neovascularization)
ð Vitreo-retinal surgery (for Non resolving vitreous hemorrhage and RD)
